With more people turning to AI tools like ChatGPT for recommendations, reviews, and research, the question is no longer if your business should show up; it’s how to make sure it does.
Whether someone is asking ChatGPT where to find a coach, a podcast to listen to, or a wellness product to try, you want to make sure your name or brand is in that answer. And the good news? You don’t have to be famous to show up. You just have to be searchable, relevant, and connected to the right digital signals.
Recently, eWomenNetwork discovered that one of our new organic traffic sources was ChatGPT! So today, we are sharing how to show up in ChatGPT responses, including the exact prompt someone should use to find you and what you can do behind the scenes to make it happen.
Start Here: The Prompt That Gets You Discovered
If you want ChatGPT to recommend your business, people need to ask it questions that you can be the answer to. Here's a prompt you can share with your audience, clients, or team to help get you in the mix:
"Who are some top [your industry or niche] experts or businesses in [your location or specialty]?"
Example: "Who are some top mindset coaches for women entrepreneurs?"
Or: "Can you recommend a woman-owned marketing agency that works with small business owners?"
If ChatGPT has access to enough public content connected to your brand such as blog posts, podcast features, press, or a strong SEO footprint, it may mention you.
Pro Tip: Encourage clients or supporters to ask this question in ChatGPT using your niche or location, and then screenshot it if your name appears. This builds momentum and can even be used as social proof.
How to Increase Your Chances of Being Recommended
1. Show Up in Content that ChatGPT Can Reference
ChatGPT pulls from sources that are publicly available online and referenced often. This includes:
Blog posts (especially those optimized for SEO)
Podcast show notes and transcripts
Articles on reputable platforms or publications
Guest posts or backlinks from established websites
Google Business listings and local citations (if applicable)
The more you’re mentioned in these places, the more likely you are to be included in recommendations.
2. Be Clear About What You Do and Who You Help (DO THIS FIRST)
Your website and online content should clearly state:
Your niche or industry
Who you serve
What you’re known for
Where you’re located (if relevant)
ChatGPT relies on context. If your content says, “I help people achieve success” but doesn’t mention coaching, business, or mindset, it won’t know who to recommend you to.
3. Use SEO Language Consistently
Think about the actual words people use to search for businesses like yours:
“Best productivity coach for moms
“Women-owned branding agency in Dallas”
“Speaker on small business funding”
Use these phrases in your About page, blog posts, headlines, and even alt text for images.
4. Be Featured (or Mentioned) on Other Sites
Third-party credibility helps. Get interviewed on podcasts, contribute to guest blogs, or be listed in roundups. These external links and mentions increase your digital footprint, which can make you more “visible” to ChatGPT’s algorithms.
Bonus: Promote the Prompt to Your Community
You don’t have to wait and hope someone asks the right question. You can be proactive by sharing the prompt with your followers and community like this
“Want to help more people find my work? Ask ChatGPT: ‘Who are some top [insert niche] experts?’ and see what comes up! If I show up, take a screenshot and tag me!”
It’s a great conversation starter and makes your audience feel like they’re part of your visibility journey.
Visibility Is No Longer Just About Social Media
Your next client might not find you in a Facebook group or an Instagram post. They might find you because they typed a question into ChatGPT, and the answer led them straight to you.
That means your online presence, content, and clarity are more important than ever.
