Women Business Owners Not Intimidated by Recession

A just released eWomenNetwork survey clearly shows U.S. and Canadian women entrepreneurs are “Charging Ahead and have a Positive Outlook” despite economy woes.

When asked how businesswomen are feeling about the current economic situation, 72.5% replied that they are "charging ahead and keeping a positive outlook".

All the negative, scary reports you read in print, watch on television or hear on the radio ARE NOT impacting the spirit, drive and determination of women in business, the survey reveals.

“The fact is, for small business owners, nothing has really changed that much from what we normally encounter day-in and day-out. Entrepreneurs already know that in good or challenging times we have to expend lots of energy and invest the time to cultivate new relationships, network and transact deals. To survive and thrive, successful businesswomen are not allowing negative news to permeate their thinking,” says Sandra Yancey, CEO of eWomenNetwork. “This survey clearly illustrates that success-minded women entrepreneurs of today are not allowing challenging times to change their positive outlook and view of the future,” Yancey continues.

When asked if they felt this was a good time to grow their business, an overwhelming 73.8% of women responded "yes".

Marilyn Tam, former CEO of Aveda, former President of Reebok Apparel & Retail, and Co-Visioneer of HealthWalk in Carlsbad, California, says, “The worst thing a woman or man can do is allow negative news to cloud or consume their thinking. Those who don’t operate from this perspective will quickly begin to feel anxious, unsettled and scared.”

92.3% of businesswomen responded that they are networking and investing in building more relationships to stay positive and upbeat.

The results from this survey are very inspiring and a “must read” for all women in business, especially right now. Aside from the survey’s powerful statistical data, the personal comments from women on why now is the best time to grow and expand their businesses will benefit women who may be struggling.

According to Sandra Yancey, do not reject the recession “Embrace it!" Now is the time to re-tool, re-think, re-design and re-align your business for the re-cession!
