Marilyn Tam

We’ve begun a bit of a tradition with our Femtor® Awards, and that is to look outside our own community to shine a spotlight on an outstanding businesswoman who is an exemplar of the kind of success that only decades of persistence and determination can yield. Our Lifetime Achievement Award gives us the opportunity to say “We See You” to a wildly successful businesswoman who is among those who have accumulated both life experience and a track record of progressive accomplishments we can all admire.

This year’s award winner, Marilyn Tam, is someone who has, through her own strength of character and brilliance of talent, garnered multiple extremely influential positions in major multinational corporations. She overcame a childhood in a culture where girls were not especially wanted, and as a second daughter she will tell you, “dirt was more valuable than I.”

She escaped the sadness and turmoil of her early life in Hong Kong, coming to the United States as a teenager. She went on to a meteoric rise in the international business world, as a VP for Nike, President of Reebok Apparel and Retail, and CEO of Aveda. She has built and sold three companies and now she consult with global companies and non-profits on leadership, diversity, change management and the integration of social and environmental concerns into businesses and also run Us Foundation. Marilyn founded Us Foundation in 1996 to facilitate global action and dialogue on social, economic and environmental issues.

She has been recognized for her achievements on the international level many times, and we are honored to have her join the eWomenNetwork community as we bestow our Lifetime Achievement Award upon Marilyn Tam.
